Health and nutrition is an important part of the puzzle when it comes to your dogs behaviour, and its been a while since we’ve updated our food recommendations. So it’s high time we did a run through of our top dog food picks for 2024!

The Database we use - AADF

we love www.allaboutdogfood.co.uk, as an independent database for all things dog food. If you haven’t seen them yet, they are our absolute go to for a clear, complete picture of what our dogs are being fed. Check them out - Independently assess and compare your dogs food - with www.allaboutdogfood.co.uk

Each product is rated on whether it matches 5 Criteria - Natural Ingredients, High Meat Content, Hyopallergenic, Clearly Labelled Ingredients, and whether to not the food is Nutritionally complete.

Our ‘Best of the Best’ Recommendation.

Naturaw - Complete Meal RAW dog food

from £2.49 per day | £3.75 for 500g

Yep, it's raw. There’s a good reason why raw dog food is so popular, and we’re always keeping an eye out for a great raw food company that makes it as easy as possible to succeed. If you want the best dog food available. dont mind the prep time and budget isn’t an issue, then Natural is the one for you.

You can find them here: www.naturaw.co.uk

Best Quality Dry Food - Our Recommendation

Millies Wolfheart - Complete Meal Dry Dog Food

£0.81 per day | £65.99 for 15kg.

We featured Millies on our last post, and whilst they aren’t as highly rated as they used to be at 72%, its not because anything’s changed - in fact, even the price has barely changed compared to other brands, which is why we’re still giving them this spot. Millies offer quality ingredients, an impressive lack of allergens, and a dedication to putting more money into ingredients than they do into advertising.

The food my dogs (still) eat.

Forthglade - Complete Meal Wet Dog Food

£2.42 a day | £31.50 for 18X 400G pouches

I’ve always been a forth glade fan, because it straddles the gap between a fresh RAW diet (which has to be stored, defrosted and prepped) and an easy to prepare pouched food.

Forthglade is vacuum sealed and doesn’t need to be stored in a fridge or freezer before opening, which means it can be bought in bulk and its ready to go whenever you need.

I know they aren’t the cheapest on the market - but for ease and quality, they still get my vote. You can order your forth glade meals here:

Our Top Value Picks

Wildways - Complete Meal Dry Dog Food

£0.90 per day | £54.99 for 12kg

It seems that a lot of the big hitters in the industry have gotten wind of the fact that we want better food for our dogs, and this new brand from national retailer Pets at Home offers an impressive level of quality for what is a very reasonable price. Yes, it’s a kibble - so it is processed, and cooked - but with a very commendable 79% AADF Score, it’s worth paying attention to.

You can find them here: www.petsathome.com

Nature’s Way - Complete Meal Dry Dog Food

£0.62 per day | £52.99 for 12kg

we featured them last time, and we’re featuring them again - because when it comes to a super low cost option, these guys are the best compromise that we’ve found. Their kibble is quite carb heavy, which we do try to avoid - but they use a combination of rice, barley and oats, which are much easier on our dogs stomaches and generally not considered allergens.

If you need an affordable option with the least compromise, this is our recommendation. Find them here: www.itsnaturesway.co.uk
