I always try and be flexible to what’s going to be best for you and your dog - so if you’re concerned just let me know (even if its the morning of your session) and we can reschedule you. Depending on time of year, there may be a bit of a wait - but il do everything I can!

Great question. The short answer - we don’t know until we meet them. The majority of our cases can be resolved in a single session (no, really) - things like pulling on a lead, basic level reactivity towards other dogs, over excitement and neurotic behaviour - because in most cases the issue isn’t nearly as bad as people think, and a couple of small changes can make a big difference.
However, for some of you the is definitely not going to be the case. Some dogs are extremely fearful - that takes time. Some dogs are dangerously aggressive - that also takes time. Some issues are more related to lifestyle, or it may be that its an issue that’s been getting worse over a period of years. I work full spectrum behavioural issues, and I cannot tell you where your dog is on that scale until I’ve met them.
The way I explain it to my clients is that the difference between seeing a standard dog trainer and a dedicated behaviour specialist is like going to the gym vs arranging a trip to the doctor. My sessions involve a proper diagnosis and an effective treatment. If you have to keep coming back, the diagnosis is wrong or the treatment is ineffective. Some treatments do take more time than others, but there should always be a significant and noticeable improvement.
What we do guarantee is not to waste your time. Every session is objective based, which means we have a clear goal for every client. All my clients can contact me any day, any time for guidance and support - so I can keep you and your dog on track.

Its a sentiment I hear almost daily, and it’s almost never true. Most of the time it’s because people are receiving poor or conflicting advice, or they are trying to use ‘training’ to resolve psychological or behavioural issues. I know it may be a major cause of stress for you, but it’s just another day in the office for us.

This is a difficult question to answer succinctly, but most of my clients have previously been through the experience of throwing large amounts of chicken on the ground for six months with little to no improvement, or having someone tell them to punish the soul out of their dog for no good reason.
I am not a trainer, I am a behaviourist ( personally trained by world renowned Dog behaviourist Cesar Millan). As a behaviour specialist, my day to day work is with difficult cases from across the region that haven’t succeed with basic training or local behaviour support. Every case starts with proper assessment and evaluation from a foundation of dog psychology, not training - and we pay close attention to every aspect of your dogs behaviour and relationship with you when forming a diagnosis - something which many professionals simply are not trained or permitted to do.
I try to include as much information and detail on my website as possible - so the best thing to do is have a look around - or book in for a free call if you have any questions that need answering.

A quality trainer or behaviourist will rarely ever tell you to euthanise your dog for the majority of behavioural issues, certainly not after 30 minutes on your sofa with a cup of tea. In the overwhelming majority of cases, this is the result of poor diagnosis, limited experience or politicised training ethos. You should always ask for a second opinion before taking further action.
Fearful Aggressive Dogs
The number one reason that Euthanasia may be suggested is for a dog with a human bite history, particularly if this is with their owners. Very often this issue is related to fear and anxiety, and can be resolved with professional support.
Human Aggressive Dogs
In some rare circumstances, confident dogs can become very powerful and engrained in their knowledge that biting people is an effective way of managing or controlling people. There are national specialists who work with Human aggressive dogs and can work through these issues once the dog is removed from the home, but the lasting consideration needs to be whether or not the owner is capable of providing the commitment, level of correct handling, and the right environment for the dog to continue to succeed when it is returned. It's essential to be aware that in incidents where a dog does seriously injure a person, the owner can be criminally prosecuted, with fines from £10,000's to £100,00's, and the possibility of a prison sentence.
We will rarely advice anyone to Euthanise their dog, and never before meeting the dog in person, but this is the scenario when we are most likely to do so.

No, I don’t. Dog behaviour work not only requires clear observation of the scenario and the environment, but there is a significant safety element when working with many dogs. I do not offer training if I cannot supervise in person.
-
Not usually and not in the formal sense - I exclusively offer One to One support with an emphasis on relationship, behaviour and psychology. It’s kind of like the other side of the coin to obedience. You can’t have one without the other!
Obedience training is a super important, fun way to burn energy and form a bond with your dog - we definitely encourage it! Have a look at local obedience trainers in your area or enthusiasts who love getting the most out of your breed.

For some quick tips, jump on over to our puppy essentials section here. Otherwise book in for one of our one to one sessions - either at our farm or in your home if you'd prefer. We promise we won’t force feed your dog treats, kick them out for ‘misbehaving’, or let them spend an hour jumping all over each other in the name of ‘socialisation’.
